Good Morning :)

Some of you have started clear-coating your fence posts and working through the design elements and
problems that arise when creating. Once finished we will begin making our blogs. I have discussed with you -your blog and how we will use it in the future. We will post your finished work on your blog. The first one being your fence. You may wish to post all work (previous)

Fence Project continued

Here are some examples of some of the amazing work created by artists and members of the community.
I have purchased some clear stain to go over the boards to seal them and so that they will retain the colour. It seems as though felt marker runs when painted over so be very careful not to spread colour where you may not want it. * Remember this is a collaboration piece between you and the community around you.

Friday

Good afternoon, today we are designing the fence posts and will be working through the creative process. Some of you have worked through mapping and concept development. You can begin once you have your three main ideas.

Please check under the PAGE titled 'GRAPHIC DESIGN' to view some of the samples of the fence projects created to date.

Good Afternoon

Yesterday we were working on various skills that included an intro to the elements of composition. We talked about line, value and some detail on colour. Today we will continue the line drawings and you will get an intro to colour, colour theory and an assignment on non-objective art.

You will find all of the assignments we are currently working on- under the Graphic Arts tab at the top of this blog. As we move through the sections (Graphic arts, photography and film making) you can access assignments, links and examples through these tabs.

Good Morning!

Welcome to our class blog. On this blog you will find:
Course curriculum and Essential Learning Outcomes, links and videos, assignments and due dates and most importantly you will also learn how to link to your own blog, flikr and youtube sites.
In the next couple of weeks we will be creating blogs to display your hard work and commitment.
Today, we are going to look at the ELEMENTS of ART.

Andy Goldsworthy

"The underlying tension of a lot of my art is to try and look through the surface appearance of things. Inevitably, one way of getting beneath the surface is to introduce a hole, a window into what lies below."

Andy Goldsworthy1956 -
Andy Goldsworthy is a brilliant British artist who collaborates with nature to make his creations. Besides England and Scotland, his work has been created at the North Pole, in Japan, the Australian Outback, in the U.S. and many others
Goldsworthy regards his creations as transient, or ephemeral. He photographs each piece once right after he makes it. His goal is to understand nature by directly participating in nature as intimately as he can. He generally works with whatever comes to hand: twigs, leaves, stones, snow and ice, reeds and thorns.

Today we will explore the element LINE

We are going to play a game titled: GALACTICA
For this game, you need to have 6 players.
Three different creatures live in Galactica:
-Linezos
-Amorphs
-Zots

All creatures will contribute to a Zenograph
-Linezos: express themselves by making ONLY line designs or shapes using LINE only
-Amporphs: express themselves by making ONLY amorpheous rebellious shapes with round or softe edges
-Zots: express themselves by making only dots and dot patterns.

ONLY ABSTRACT PATTERNS ARE USED IN THE DESIGNS, GALACTIC creatures DO NOT use representational images.

How to play:
Pair up and make a group of six. So that there are two each of linezos, amorphs and zots.
Each group makes a plan divide the large paper into small squares like a grid.

TOOLS:
Linexos use felt pens
Amorphs use pastels
Zinos use paint

Each group can ONLY work when it hears music. Work until the mural is complete.
